Researcher
Rania Benjelloun Benkacem completed her MS in Global Affairs at the NYU SPS Center for Global Affairs (CGA), with a concentration in Peacebuilding and UN specialization, following her Bachelor in International Relations from King's College London. At CGA, her studies culminated in a thesis titled "Shaping National Identity Through History and Civic Education: The Case of Morocco and the 2011 Constitution," which explores the role of education in shaping collective identities and fostering societal cohesion.
During her studies at CGA, Rania undertook an internship with the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), where she contributed to organizing the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development. This experience was complemented by her work with EcoPeace Middle East in Jordan, applying her understanding of sustainable development directly to regional and environmental peacebuilding initiatives. Additionally, she gained practical experience in sustainability while working with Ramboll, enhancing her knowledge and interest in critical minerals and their role in sustainable practices.
Now working as a Phosphate Analyst at Benchmark Mineral Intelligence in London, Rania continues to apply her insights into how critical resources can be managed for sustainable development and the energy transition. Her background in peacebuilding, international relations, and sustainability informs her analysis, driving her belief in the importance of informed research and education to support the energy transition and management of resources crucial for a more peaceful world.
