RESEARCH & FOCUS AREAS: Peacebuilding, youth empowerment, and applied research design in conflict-affected contexts, with regional experience in Iraq, Libya, Lebanon, and Yemen. Expertise includes survey design, data analysis, and the development of educational materials for peace studies.

CURRENT WORK:

  • Developed and implemented Arabic-language online modules on core peacebuilding topics for undergraduate students at the University of Anbar in Ramadi, Iraq, as part of PREP’s education initiatives.

  • Serves as Country Director at Ideas Beyond Borders (IBB), managing programs and projects in Iraq with local universities and youth-led organizations focused on peacebuilding and empowerment.

BACKGROUND
Hussein provides advice and consultations for PREP on survey design, report preparation, and applied research.

He developed PREP’s online modules on core peacebuilding topics into Arabic for undergraduate students at the University of Anbar in Ramadi, Iraq, as part of PREP’s education initiatives.

Previously, he was a Project Officer and Researcher at the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies (CPCS) at Seton Hall University, where he managed and coordinated projects in Yemen, Libya, and Lebanon.

In addition to his work with NYU PREP, Hussein continues his role with Ideas Beyond Borders (IBB), managing peacebuilding and youth empowerment programs that strengthen higher education and civil society across Iraq.
