Sustaining Peace Seminar Series with Chelsea Payne

Chelsea Payne, who works in the Policy, Planning and Application Branch of the Peacebuilding Support Office that led the drafting of the 2018 Report of the Secretary-General on Peacebuilding and Sustaining Peace, explained the complex process that led to production of the report. Payne said that the report's significance may be measured by possible next steps to make sure that the reforms proposed in it could be realized. The challenge, she said, would be whether the UN system can work more coherently towards achieving sustained peace. The report puts the onus on member states to achieve the intended objectives with support from UN system.
